Gladys Binsberger, Beverly Lesieur and Dorothy Sutherland have each given many hours of service to this operation for five or more years. They are to be applauded for their service and dedication to CARES. Gladys is the cashier on Thursdays. She hails from Pennsylvania, but has resided in Florida for 26 years. She was, at one time a seamstress at Maas Bros. Department Store. Gladys enjoys playing bocce ball and dining out. One day, almost five years ago, she came to the Café for lunch. She liked the atmosphere there and decided to volunteer first as a greeter and then as cashier. She’s faithful to her duties and enjoys meeting and talking with guests. Many stop to chat with Gladys and share their lives with her. She is friendly and a good listener. Beverly has volunteered tirelessly for several years, not only in the Café but at Rotary meetings, CARES special events, fundraisers and at catered affairs. She sets up, serves and cleans up. Bev is always ready, willing and able to help wherever and whenever needed. She is personable and has a wonderful cense of humor. Beverly also coordinated the Silver Sneakers exercise program for a number of years, here at the Center. She took on the task, organized the membership and diligently worked to increase the enrollment in order to keep the program operational. Bev and her husband Arthur enjoy many activities as well as cruising, and spending time with their grandchildren. Dorothy, who has lived in Florida for 31 years, came to CARES when the Center first opened. She joined the Silver Sneakers class and was encouraged to volunteer in the Café. She worked in the kitchen helping with food prep and helping at CARES functions. She was away for a couple of years, but fortunately for CARES, she returned and loves being part of the CARES family. Dot is a hostess in the Café on Thursday’s. She especially enjoys helping set up and serve Rotarians at their weekly meetings. Dot is always willing to fill in where needed. She can be counted on to help at catered events, special CARES events and fundraisers. She enjoys crocheting, sewing and loves to cook. All three volunteers would encourage you to join them in the Café and explore opportunities for becoming part of the CARES family.
