Physician and Patient Praise CARES Skilled Medicare Services

"We cannot give them enough credit for their professional, thoughtful care," said Lois Kaiser referring to the skilled home health care provided to her husband Robert by CARES.

Robert and Lois Kaiser moved to Florida 14 years ago from Grand Island, New York where Mr. Kaiser was the Tax Collector. They have been married for 64 years. Mr. Kaiser is a World War II veteran who was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge. He uses a wheelchair to get around not because of the war wound but because of a stroke a few years ago.

When Mr. Kaiser was ready to be discharged after being hospitalized for pneumonia, his physician, Dr. Ronald Gilberg, recommended CARES skilled home health services. The Kaisers couldn’t have been happier with the care he received. "If you need care, call CARES," they suggested. "They did the job and everyone was so pleasant."

Skilled home health services are often prescribed by physicians to assist patients in making the transition from hospital to home. Medicare will cover these services if a physician determines that medical care in the home is required. The value of such skilled home health services cannot be overestimated.

"Skilled care in the home is of tremendous value," commented Dr. Ronald Gilberg, the Kaisers’ Physician and Chief of Staff at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point. "It’s a tool to help patients avoid re-admission to the hospital." He went on to say that due to the care he received, Mr. Kaiser’s health was stabilized. He believes that the collaboration between CARES, physicians and their office staff helps insure that proper patient care is provided.

Medicare patients have the right to choose the home health agency to provide the skilled services by a physician. And according to Dr. Gilberg CARES is a good choice. "I couldn’t imagine any better care than that provided by CARES," he stated.

If you know someone with traditional Medicare who is being discharged from a hospital and skilled home health services have been ordered by their physician, please tell them about CARES. You may want to remind them that they have the right to choose the home health agency to provide the skilled services required.

Also, if you know anyone who is homebound and whose physician has ordered skilled nursing care because they are having difficulty managing their condition, physical therapy due to problems with walking and balance, speech therapy because of an inability to speak clearly or other skilled services, please suggest that they consider requesting CARES as their provider.
