CARES Piano Recital
On March 18th, CARES hosted a Piano Recital and Reception at the CARES Rao Musunuru, M.D. Enrichment Center in Hudson to honor Dr. Robert and Susan Hamill for their donation of the family’s antique baby grand piano to the center.
The piano is a maple Steck which was made in 1928 in Germany and still has the original works. Steck pianos were all made to order and were not mass produced. The Steck Piano Company was established in 1857 in Gotha, Germany and was an affiliate of the famous Steck Company located in New York State.
The recital featured pianists Jean Bellis, Pat Deighton, Mickie Ryan, and Miles Wildmore and The Suncoast Recorder Ensemble which is directed by Marlene Cracraft. CARES President/CEO, Bill Aycrigg thanked Dr. and Mrs. Hamill for their donation on behalf of the center. “I wanted to give the piano to the CARES Rao Musunuru, M.D. Center because I knew how much they would appreciate it”, commented Susan Hamill.
Susan Hamill has served on the CARES Board of Directors since 2004. She and Dr. Hamill have been generous supporters of CARES for many years.
Some of the attendees at the event included, Judge Debra Roberts, CARES Honorary Board Member Dr. Rao Musunuru, CARES Board Members: Dee Thomas, Chair; Thea Johnson, Vice Chair; Phillip Wood, Secretary; Gregory Gay; Evelyn Haas and Dr. David Johnson and Dr. Lawrence Seigel, Suncoast Eye Center and CARES long time donor and supporter Albert Schreck, Merill Lynch Schreck group.
