Experience Works Senior Employment Program

Experience Works is a national, charitable organization whose mission is to improve the lives of older people through training, community service and employment.

The Senior Community Service Employment Program is the largest program offered by Experience Works.  Participants are placed at eligible host agencies (primarily faith based and non profit community organizations. They are paid the minimum wage for an average of 20 hours per week.  To be eligible for the program you must be 55 years of age or older and have an annual family income of no more than 125% of the federal poverty income guidelines.

The Northern Pasco and Southern Hernando Experience Works offices are located at the CARES Rao Musunuru, M.D. Enrichment Center in Hudson, and a number of their employees work at the center performing a variety of accounting, clerical, data entry and other tasks.  The goal is to provide the Experience Works employees with the training needed to help them re-enter the work force. It’s a win, win situation for CARES. We provide them with the necessary training and Experience Works pays for the needed tasks they perform for the center.

Anyone is interested in the program can visit the Experience Works office at the center or call them at 727-863-6868.

Joke Time

A little girl was sitting on her grandfather's lap as he read her a bedtime story. From time to time, she would take her eyes off the book and reach up to touch his wrinkled cheek.  She was alternately stroking her own cheek, then his again.

Finally she spoke up, "Grandpa, did God make you?"

"Yes, sweetheart," he answered, "God made me a long time ago."

"Oh," she paused, "Grandpa, did God make me too?"

"Yes, indeed, honey," he said, "God made you just a little while ago."

Feeling their respective faces again, she observed, "God's getting better at it, isn't he?"
