by Joan Barry Program Coordinator for CARES
On Friday, May 29th, Jr. Achievement’s intergenerational program “Connecting Elders with Kids” was held in our Rao Musunuru, M.D. Activity Center. This Teen Teacher program partnered Volunteers from our Enrichment Center, Joan Barry, Sylvia Miller, Ethel Miller and Madelaine Woodman with four juniors from Hudson Senior High School and Claire Ennis’ second graders from Hudson Elementary School.
We interacted with the children as they learned about the Community in which we live. We had a wonderful time helping them complete their projects and joined them for lunch in our “We Care Café.”
We especially thank Senator Mike Fasano, for not only attending this event, but joining in with the children in their assembly line at the Sweet O’Donut Factory. Greg Giordano, the Chief Legislative Assistant to Mr. Fasano, expressed his ongoing support for this project. Dan Paasch represented Congressman Gus Bilirakis. We are proud of these wonderful teens and well mannered 2nd graders. They represented what is good about this young generation.
We appreciate what Jr. Achievement’s Dawn Brabson did to get this program started in 2003 and what Kym McGee is doing to assure the continuation of Jr. Achievement Day at CARES Musunuru Enrichment Center.
