Our Office Receptionists greet and assist visitors, answer many phone calls, refer people to agencies who provide legal, medical, chores and home healthcare. Many times the receptionist at the front desk is the first person a caller or visitor has ever been in contact with at a CARES facility. Our Telephone Reassurance volunteers are truly a lifeline for those who live alone and depend on a daily phone call assuring that everything is OK. These callers take their special mission seriously as they check on their clients. And very often they provide the one phone call and ray of sunshine in a lonely person’s life. We also have Class Instructors who are willing to instruct participants that help to make CARES a Center of enjoyment and Coordinators of various activities help to keep programs running smoothly. Our We “Care” Café is a clean and cheerful gathering place for the community to enjoy delicious meals, conversation and friendly service. The dedicated staff works hard to help prepare meals and wait on tables. The cashiers greet visitors and tend to the Gift Shop. It takes many hands to keep this operation running smoothly. We wish thank all of our regular Volunteers, many of whom have been here since this Center opened. We also thank those newer Volunteers who do such a wonderful job of substituting during the summer months. We need and appreciate each and every one of you! Please remember that we continue to have a need for volunteers. If you are willing to extend a helping hand, lend a sympathetic ear, reassure someone in need and wear a friendly smile, then you fit our description of a CARES volunteer. Please call us at 863-6868 for more information.
