All evidence to the contrary, I still somehow delude myself into thinking I’m a senior version of Wonder Woman!  Thus, when Disney offered FL residents 4 parks for $99 plus 30% discount on rooms, I confidently scheduled a 3 night stay so I could do a park a day.

Arrived there 11 am, got the room, boarded a bus to Animal Kingdom.  Do you have any idea how big that park is?  (Me neither, but it’s HUGE RODE the raft, rode the train, rode the safari bus.  Sounds leisurely, doesn’t it?  Not after you have walked thru the park, stopping to see sights along the way.  Got to an entrance to a ride, walked about another block to get on the ride.  Then half a block to get back out, NOT where I started so back tracked to see something near the start.  Kids are running, adults are trudging.

Second day, still confident.  Epcot.  HAS to be twice as big as Animal Kingdom.  By the time I visited Canada, United Kingdom, France, Norway, USA, China, saw several shows, it was five hours later and still had half the park to go.  Decided it could wait for another day

Third day, confidence waned.   Figured, take it easy and ride monorail (outside of Epcot) to hotels, sightsee area, then on to Downtown Disney.  Five more hours of pounding the pavement.

Called and made another reservation to do other two parks next month!  We were beat!

Believe it or not, wouldn’t have missed it for anything!  Am recommending taking advantage of the deals given to FL residents, just use common sense.  You can truly be a kid of any age and still enjoy the land of Mickey.  Probably not four days in a row though.

Musings for May

By
Diane Dare

“…call unto your remembrance the month of May, like as did Queen Guenever…” (Sir Thomas Mallory, in Le Morte d’Arthur)

May is a month for remembering as we celebrate both Memorial Day and Mother’s Day.

Did you know that the first public library opened (in Connecticut) on May 22, 1803? Our library in the Annex at Elfers Senior Center offers a wide variety of paperback and hardback books that you can borrow – no fee, no time limit. Donations are always welcome. Some of our books are even Large Print Editions, which reminds me: Benjamin Franklin announced the invention of bifocals on May 23, 1785. Thank you, Ben!
