Experience Works Senior Employment Program

Experience Works is a national, charitable organization whose mission is to improve the lives of older people through training, community service and employment. The Senior Community Service Employment Program is the largest program offered by Experience Works. Participants are placed at eligible host agencies (primarily faith-based and non-profit community organization). They are paid the minimum wage for an average of 20 hours per week. To be eligible for the program you must be 55 years of age or older and have an annual family income of no more than 125% of the federal poverty income guidelines.

The Northern Pasco and Southern Hernando Experience Works offices are located at the CARES Rao Musunuru, MD Enrichment Center in Hudson. Several of their employees work at that center and at the CARES Phil Mishkin Center as receptionists and perform a variety of accounting, clerical, data entry and other tasks. The goal is to provide Experience Works employees with the training needed to help them to re-enter the work force. It’s a win-win situation for CARES. We provide them with the necessary training and Experience Works pays for the needed tasks they perform for the centers.

Anyone interested in the program can visit the Experience Works office at the center or call them at 727-863-6868.

A Volunteer is needed at Elfers to print and bind the computer class manuals. We have the necessary equipment and will provide training. Four computer classes (Computer I, Computer II, eMail Basics and Picasa) are held each month during winter months. Each class takes six students so 24 books per month are needed September through May. There will be plenty of time to learn the process as we wind down for the summer.
