We have reached the end of the era when independent CARES center-specific newsletters are published. Therefore, this is one of the last editions of the Communicator. Instead, we will be joining the CARES newsletter Bulletin, which will be available at the front desk three times a year, probably starting in February. It will contain a 4-page insert from the Elfers Center. During the months the Bulletin is not published, the four-pager will be available at our center. So, you will still be getting all the local news and events plus CARES-wide news three times a year. We look forward to your continued readership and welcome Booster and advertising support for the Elfers section.

CARES Launches New Program

CARES, Community Aging and Retirement Services, has launched a new program to address the changing world of today’s seniors.  “CARES Connects HighTech-HighTouch”, a new senior friendly computer and technology service, is specifically designed for older adults. The program shows seniors how to connect to the world of computers and technology at their own pace and in language that is easy to understand.

“CARES Connects HighTech-HighTouch” offers a variety of computer and technological services to older adults. Personalized computer education and guidance with a CARES Connector is specially tailored for the adult learner. “CARES Connectors speak Senior”, says Chris Powers, Director CARES Adult Day Services and Business Development. “Seniors want to know how to use a computer and how to connect with their families. You are never too old to learn. We introduce our senior learners to a wide choice of computer activities in private one on one sessions.”

“CARES Connects HighTech-HighTouch” has qualified and back-ground screened Senior Connectors who offer personal computer set-ups and instruction in the home. Technical support also is available. A unique feature of the program is that it is available to individuals residing in Assisted Living Communities or Nursing Homes.
