Dog Days

     By Diane Dare

Named for Sirius, the Dog Star, “dog days” refers to the hot sultry weather of August, and is also defined as a “period of stagnation and inactivity.” This is NOT true at our Elfers Center! Cars fill the parking spaces as folks participate in cool summertime activities or board our air-conditioned bus for day trips to cool destinations. August 1st is Friendship Day. Remember that summer camp verse about “make new friends but keep the old?” You’ll find new and old friends here at Elfers. Speaking of summer camp, did you know August 10th is National S’mores Day? Graham crackers, chocolate and marshmallows – sounds healthy to me. Yum!
