In honor of Older
Americans’ Month, CARES held a volunteer appreciation luncheon on
May 11th at the CARES Rao Musunuru, MD Enrichment Center
in Hudson. The volunteers who attended help support a

New features in the Communicator: Do you know? We would like to introduce you to the volunteers who help run the Elfers Center. Without them we would be unable to operate. Each month two of our volunteers will be featured, with a photograph and short biography. This month we are introducing Isa Hackett and Gladys Hummel from the Thrift Shop (page 8).  Also, we hope to run a "Can you guess who this is?" section. Volunteers, please bring in childhood, teenage, or young adulthood photos of yourselves. This should be fun! To kick off, who do you think this is?

variety of CARES programs and services countywide and included the
group from Elfers. Some of us took the Elfers Travel Department bus
driven by Travel’s coordinator, Norm Fitsko. Norm’s is a full time
job, at the desk and in the bus. Adrienne was recognized for her 30
years of service, not only in Travel but as ballroom dancing and
bridge instructor. Elfers appreciates you all, for every single hour
you give, and it was good to see you honored by a luncheon and hear
words of appreciation from CARES President Bill Aycrigg and Honorary
Board members Dr Rao Musunuru and Dr. Marc Yacht. There was a
luncheon provided by Hudson’s We Care café and entertainment in the
form of golden oldies sung a cappella by the Suncoast Harmony
Chorus.
