October 19th - Vinoy Resort ![]() Gorgeous doesn’t begin to describe the Vinoy Resort. We learned some history (did you know the Vinoy housed troops during WWII?), saw the ornate lobby, the ballroom, and enjoyed the tea garden (the venue for many weddings and special events). Then we all sat down to an enjoyable lunch. The hospitality was great!
November 10th – Lowry Park Zoo ![]() Rain and strong winds were predicted but it turned out to be a GREAT day at Lowry Park Zoo. No crowds! We, the tigers, giraffes, rhinos, penguins (did you know that penguins hide when they are moulting because they are embarrassed? I didn’t either.), apes, vast array of birds, bears, etc (okay, maybe “we” the most) appreciated the cloudy, breezy, rain-free day. ![]()

CARES Employee Needs Your Help As you may be aware, six year old Bryce Atkeson died of injuries incurred in a fire at his home in Port Richey on Sunday, November 15th. Perhaps you didn’t know that he was the grandson of Monica Hopkins, who works in CARES Chore Department. Bryce’s mother was also injured in the fire, and Monica now has temporary custody of her four other children: 2 year old Bradley, 4 year old Blaze, 5 year old Bryant and 9 year old Brandon. CARES is setting up a fund to assist Monica and the children. The money raised will be used to buy clothing, food, toys and school supplies for the boys. You can send your contributions to the fund to CARES, 7505 Rottingham Road, Port Richey 34668, Attention Bryce Atkeson Fund. The check should be payable to CARES with the words “Bryce Atkeson Fund” noted in the memo section. If you would prefer to personally give your donation to CARES rather than mail it, please deliver it to Charles Sobel, CARES Chief Financial Officer. Please consider making a donation. Your contribution will make a difference in these children’s lives. - 6 - |
