SHINE Counselor at Elfers
SHINE (Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders), a program of the Florida Department of Elder Affairs) will be at CARES Elfers Center on December 15th 10:00am – 12:00pm providing guidance on your Medicare benefits for 2009, including long-term care.
This will be your LAST CHANCE to speak to a Medicare counselor about your 2009 benefits during the open season which ends on December 31. Only during this time are you able to change your health insurance plan. Whatever pleased you about your plan last year may not be available this year as all companies have made changes. The counselor will guide you through this maze of information.
Please call Katy at (727) 847-1290 for an appointment for the December 15th visit.
SHINE counseling services are provided free of charge by volunteers who uphold client confidentiality and provide information and unbiased advice.

Our happy hands make happy hearts. The volunteer quilters at CARES
Elfers Center are organized to preserve the art and heritage of hand
quilting. Bring in your pieced tops and allow us to hand quilt them
for a reasonable fee. In comparison to machine stitched quilts, our
hand quilted stitching provides a more fluid line. And like all
things of quality, our hand quilting demonstrates refined elegance
rather than fuller space. Collectively we have over 20 years of
experience with a promise to provide our customers with excellent
service.
All the fees collected by the hand quilters go to CARES Elfers
Center. For additional fees, stenciling, binding, pick-up and
delivery is available. We meet twice a week to quilt and will hand
quilt any size quilt. We would also like to see more quilters around the hand quilting frame. There’s plenty of room so come and join us! If you’d like to join this fascinating activity or have a pieced top, please call:
