                                                                 ELFERS THRIFT SHOP

CARES Elfers thanks Martha Hunter and Ruth Holmes for taking over the Thrift Shop. The place is really alive with activity these days and looks beautiful with its large display of Christma

s items. It has overflowed onto the forecourt, with shelves and chairs loaded with pretty things that looked very enticing when the Bay News 9 reporter/photographer came by to film a segment for their after-Thanksgiving shopping feature. Martha was interviewed and here is an overview of what she said:

Our little Thrift Shop is much more than just a plan to stretch your dollars. The shop is intended to benefit CARES but we have many more “irons in the fire.”

We pass on our donated baby clothes to a local center for indigent mothers and babies, the children’s clothes go to a local school that helps needy children, and finally, we give our discards to the homeless shelter. All this is made possible by your donations.

We reach out in many ways to benefit our community and you can see that your generous donations help us to continue our work.

Welcome to our new volunteers: Dorothy Duval,
Eileen Smith and Jeanine Yassa, and welcome
back Aurelia!

A Volunteer

It’s not for money, it’s not for fame,
It’s not for any personal gain,
It’s just for love of fellowman.
It’s just to lend a helping hand.
It’s just to give a tithe of self.
That’s something you can’t buy with wealth.
It’s not medals won with pride.
It’s for that feeling deep inside.
It’s that reward down in your heart.
It’s that feeling that you’ve been a part
Of helping others far and near
That makes you be a volunteer!

We have books in the Thrift Shop at very reasonable prices.

Or if you would prefer, a Book Exchange In the Annex. Our shelves are overflowing so come in and Browse. Choose a good book(or three) to fill those quiet moments during the Holidays.
