A Celebration of Volunteering
VOLUNTEERING is the practice of people working on behalf of others for a particular cause without payment for the time and services. Volunteering is generally considered an altruistic activity intended to promote good or improve the quality of life of the recipient. We at CARES Claude Pepper Senior Health Clinic are proud of the volunteers who give up their time and talents for just such a purpose.
Some of our volunteers were asked why they choose CARES to give their gift of time and talent.
Heard
there was a need. It allows me to contribute and the
honor is mine to do so. I have supported CARES as a volunteer for 24 years. I get great joy when I can help
identify a problem and follow through and see that the need is acknowledged and met if
possible. Also if my teaching can enable someone to take better
care of their health and save their lives that is wonderful. I love volunteering where it helps
people who have no other resources. CARES fits exactly in this category. I have
been volunteering for CARES for 10 years. CARES choose me and I am glad. I enjoy the people I work with
and am glad to be of help. I enjoy
being here to do whatever I can. This from our volunteer who is in
her 90’s and volunteers three days a week. When I
walked into this clinic in 2001 I said to myself, “I would love to
work here”. I saw
the need for help. It was time to give back to the folks who need
my professional help in Thanksgiving for
all The Blessings I’ve received. I enjoy
seeing the patients maintain their health and am please when they “graduate” to Medicare. We have smiles
together as we talk about family and other things. Sometimes we
also have tears. The patients are more than problems to be solved
and diseases to be treated. What a blessing to still be useful to
God and my Neighbor. (The two great commandments) CARES has a solid reputation for helping people and patient satisfaction.
I am honored to be part of this group of men and women who share their lives with others with a smile on their face. There is yet another volunteer who is presently on a leave of absence from Cares Senior Health Clinic. Walter Reich, DO. who faithfully saw patients two days each week at our clinic for a number of years? He has been a blessing to not only the staff as our Medical Director but also to his patients.
THANK YOU VOLUNTEERS…….We could not do this without you.
