ADULT DAY CARE This community based program provides a variety of health, social, and other related support services to functionally and/or cognitively impaired adults. Adult Day Care Centers are located at the CARES Claude Pepper Senior Center in New Port Richey and the CARES Crescent Enrichment Center in Dade City. The centers operate weekly during normal business hours.
ASSISTED LIVING SUPPORT SERVICES These services are provided to residents of Assisted Living Facilities 60 years of age or older who otherwise would require nursing home care. The services available include care management, nursing services, therapies, medication management, personal care, an emergency alert system, homemaking, companionship, behavior management, and social and recreational activities. All applicants must be assessed to determine their needs and their eligibility to receive services.
BILL PAYER PROGRAM A Bill Payer is a trained volunteer who assists clients who need help writing their checks, paying their monthly bills, balancing their checkbook and/or setting up a budget if needed. This service is available to adults 60 years of age or older who need help managing their financial obligations because of a visual or physical impairment, or a mild memory loss and who have a low to moderate income.
CHORE The Chore Program provides assistance with heavy household tasks and seasonal cleaning, lifting or moving of heavy furniture, yard work, fixing and rescreening windows, replacing locks, and other minor household repairs. Chore services are available to adults 60 years of age or older who have some functional limitations that prevent them from performing these tasks. Priority is given to individuals who do not have a network of family and friends and to those whose low income prevents them from purchasing services from private sources. HEALTH AND WELLNESS PROGRAMS Health and Wellness Programs are designed to help individuals stay active and healthy by providing activities in Pasco and Pinellas Counties that promote health and prevent disease. Educational programs, health screenings, and medication management counseling are just some of the activities provided. H.E.L.P. (HELPING ELDERS WITH LEGAL PROBLEMS) This is a not-for-profit corporation that provides assistance and education to elders re their legal rights and responsibilities. The service is available in to any resident of Pasco County 60 years of age or older. Volunteer attorneys offer a free 30 minute consultation to answer legal questions. Consultations are available by appointment only at CARES Claude Pepper Senior Center and CARES Phil Mishkin Center.
